The Purim Superhero
What do aliens, Purim, celebrating differences, and an orange ukulele have in common? This lively, kid-friendly presentation, featuries a read-aloud of The Purim Superhero, winner of the Keshet contest for first-ever picture book with both Jewish and GLBT content. The author will discuss the connections between the Purim story, alternative families, and her protagonist’s costume dilemma, answer questions about the writing process, and lead some Purim- and space-related songs on ukulele.
Elisabeth Kushner’s book, The Purim Superhero, published in February 2013 by Kar-Ben, won the Keshet contest for the first GLBT and Jewish-themed picture book.
